Frequently Asked Questions
Looking for somewhere new to call home? Welcome to Wedderburn. You’ll find some helpful information about the community below, but if you have any lingering questions, send us an email at calgary@anthemunited.com and we’ll be happy to help, because that’s what good neighbours do.
Wedderburn will be home to more than 3,500 people, with over 1,200 homes creating the close-knit community.
It takes time to build a community – you’ll have all your neighbours moved in and settled in six to eight years. Of course, this depends on the market, but we’re ready to fill the neighbourhood!
At this time, homes in Wedderburn will be built exclusively by our award winning showhome builder group. Our current builder partners are Prominent Homes, Sterling Homes and Trico Homes.
One of the beautiful things about Wedderburn is the large lot sizes of 40 to 48 feet wide for front drive garage homes in phase one. New home styles – and potentially new builders – will be featured in upcoming phases.
The Wedderburn community is as much your home as your house is. Enjoy park space with your kids, climbing the jungle gym and swinging high above the ground. Getting to school is easy with Meadow Ridge (K-9) opening in fall 2019, and you’ll be able to get your shopping done while grabbing dinner at the future Gateway Village, centrally located in Wedderburn.
Looking for some fun on the weekends? Head over to D’Arcy Ranch Golf Club in the neighbouring community, or to the Okotoks Recreation Centre for some swimming, skating or yoga classes. No matter which you choose, both are just five minutes from Wedderburn.
Stop rushing to get your kids to school and enjoy a leisurely walk together. The local public school, Meadow Ridge (K-9), will open in fall 2019 and is just a short distance from Wedderburn.
Interested in a Catholic school, or planning for the high school years? Find St. Francis of Assisi (K-9) and Holy Trinity Academy (10-12) less than 15 minutes away by car, and Foothills Composite High School (10-12) just down the road in Okotoks.
We know kids have to burn off all that energy – and video games aren’t going to cut it. Wedderburn will be home to numerous green spaces and play areas, built into each phase of development. The first phase will include a landscaped storm pond, featuring play areas and lookout seating to enjoy the mountain views beyond the pond.
You don’t have to go far to take your dog for a run. Visit Drake Landing, just a few minutes drive from Wedderburn, to enjoy a 17-acre off-leash dog park.
Stocking your kitchen is just as important as using it – and Okotoks has you covered. Just a few minutes away by car you’ll find stores including Safeway, No Frills, Sobey’s, Costco, Save-on-Foods and a Walmart Supercentre.
Wedderburn will be home to Gateway Village, a mixed-use commercial area including shopping, dining and other professional services.
Just like the rest of the neighbourhood, Gateway Village will be built and filled up in phases. You’ll see a grocery store under construction in 2020, with future phases expected to be finalized by 2025.
Wedderburn is designed to be transit-ready, with reserved bus stop areas. The Town of Okotoks is currently designing their transit strategy and layout – visit the Town of Okotoks website for more information.
Complete Streets is an initiative designed to enhance residential streets by planting and caring for trees along public roads. One of the many reasons Okotoks is the perfect place to create memories, these trees will add colour, shade and natural protection to your family’s outings.
For you, that means trees will be planted along the sidewalk beyond your property line. The specific locations will vary depending on your lot layout, but Anthem United will maintain them through the build period, followed by the Town of Okotoks. You’re just responsible for the grass below the trees!
While Anthem United finishes up building the community, we will be responsible for maintaining public areas. After that, the Town of Okotoks will take on that responsibility.
Unfortunately, it isn’t safe. But lucky for you, your neighbours at D’ARCY are opening a skating rink for winter 2019 – only a few minutes’ walk from Wedderburn. When that’s open, you have the chance to skate and make memories with your neighbours. In the meantime, the Okotoks Rec Centre is home to an arena – and it’s just a short car ride down Milligan Drive.
